Hoshiarpur
is a district head quarter. The town has immense academic
importance as a Vedic Research Centre which publishes
books on Indology and Vedic Literature and a Panjab
University Research Centre are located here. The Police
training centre at Jahan Khelan is only a small distance
from here. Hoshiarpur is known for the manufacture of
wooden and clay toys and musical instruments. The setting
up of a Pepsi Food Processing Centre has added to its
industrial importance. It is also known for its paper
mills.
